🌙 Regal Jumping Spider Care

Regal jumping spiders (Phidippus regius) are curious, intelligent little explorers that make wonderful pets when provided with the right environment and care. At Moonlight Spoods, our jumpers are raised with love and handled gently from a young age to help them become healthy, confident spiders.

🕷️ Housing

Provide a well-ventilated, escape-proof enclosure with plenty of vertical space. Regals love to climb and spend much of their time exploring the upper portion of their habitat. Add safe branches, leaves, cork, silk plants, and other decorations to create climbing opportunities and hiding spots.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

A comfortable room temperature of approximately 70–78°F works well for most Regals. Provide gentle ventilation and allow the enclosure to dry between light mistings rather than keeping it constantly wet.

🪰 Feeding

Regals are active hunters and should be offered appropriately sized live prey. Fruit flies, small flies, and other suitable feeder insects can be used depending on the spider's age and size. Young slings need appropriately tiny prey, while larger juveniles and adults can take larger feeders.

💧 Hydration

Jumping spiders typically get much of their moisture from their prey and from droplets on enclosure surfaces. Lightly misting one side of the enclosure allows them to drink droplets without leaving the enclosure overly humid.

💤 Molting

Molting is a normal and important part of spider growth. A spider may become less active, stop eating, and retreat to its hammock before a molt. Never disturb or attempt to handle a spider that is preparing to molt or has recently molted. Give them plenty of space and allow them to emerge when they're ready.

❤️ Handling

Regals are generally curious and can become comfortable with gentle interaction. Always allow your spider to approach you rather than forcing interaction. Handle close to a safe surface because jumping spiders can move quickly and unexpectedly.

🌙 Most importantly...

Every spood grows at their own pace. Provide a safe enclosure, appropriate food, clean water droplets, good ventilation, and patience and your little jumper can thrive.
